August 18, 2010 We hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer. We have had an exciting time here at Northfork. Four beautiful cria were born, Northfork Stetson, Northfork Shania, Northfork Zoey and our last, Northfork Zaria. We are so pleased with the results of our breeding programme, these cria have great conformation, fleece looks wonderful at this point and time, give them another few months. Take a look at the pictures on our site. We are participating during Alpaca Farm Days, hope we get a good turnout. We had so much fun last year and are looking forward to this September. We are going to the Futurity Show in November being held in Orangeville. Northfork Myla is one of the alpacas being offered at the Auction on Saturday night. We also have for sale Northfork Sage, Northfork Buttercup, Sunnyhill's Whychin. Make an offer and we can deliver your purchase to the show. Buttercup, Whychin and Myla have all been bred. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Hope everyone has a great Fall. ---------------------------------------- May 14, 2010 We have all survived another Winter and now we are into Spring and shortly, Summer. All of our alpacas have been sheared, thanks Brad, from Arriba Linea. Brad does a terrific job and we are thankful to have him. Next will be new cria coming this Summer and I can hardly wait. Last year we had our first Zac Accoyo Cat cria, Northfork Sundance, and he has the wow factor. He has beautiful fleece and won first in his class at the A.O. Show in Orangeville in April, 2010. We had a girl cria, Northfork Sage, who is a Nanimo daughter, she is beautiful and her mother is DPO Myrtelle. She came third in her class at the A.O. Show, April 2010. She will do very well in 2011. Northfork Myla won first in her class and also won colour champion. This girl is fantastic and also a Nanimo daughter and her mother is DPO Mrytelle. This combination makes beautiful cria. On May 1, 2010, several farms got together and we put on the first Alpaca Festival here in Uxbridge, Ontario. It was very successful and hopefully we can do it again next year. It is surprising how many people are interested in alpacas and thrilled just to see them in person. I am really looking forward to Summer and I wish that all farms have a good crop of healthy crias. We have several alpacas up for sale. Northfork Myla, Northfork Sage, Northfork Sundance, DPO Ali, L’Toya, and Casper. Please look at their bios and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. ---------------------------------------- December 8, 2009 We just want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Oh, by the way, "good news", Zac Accoyo Cat had his first cria born in 2009, Northfork Sundance, a good looking boy, so now Zac is proven and thinking about making one of your girls happy in the coming Spring. Senone, a very macho boy that you have seen win consistently at the shows would also like to make your girls happy with a breeding this spring. Both boys will add density, crimp and lustre. ---------------------------------------- November 18, 2008 I am looking out the window and it is here again, SNOW! I hope everyone had a good summer and fall. It has been busy here at Northfork Alpacas, we added more pasture and have just finished fencing it all in. This year we also put in a field of hay and got two cuttings, the alpacas love it. Our three cria , Buttercup, Casper and Myla are doing well and growing like weeds. The romance between Myla and Casper is still going strong. These two are always together, nuzzling each other and running around the fields and of course Buttercup joins in. I can hardly wait to see them all in full fleece. It looks like we are going to get some fantastic results. We are also going to be advertising breedings with Zac Accoyo Cat and Senone for the Spring of 2009. They lost their virginity this year to two of our more experienced girls; we wanted to make their first time was pleasant. Breedings will be limited for both boys to 5 breedings for 2009. Check our herdsire section of our site and read up on these guys. We attended the Futurity Show at Orangeville , November 7th and 8th, 2008. We had a good time as usual and it is always a good thing to get together with alpaca breeders. We ended up buying a new girl, Sunnyhill’s Skorette. The Sire is Pokemon Brew, Grandsire is NGG Lionel and Dam is DEA Karmel’s Kandy. Skorette is double registered and bred to Amber Tucker. ---------------------------------------- August 12, 2008 We thought we would have to build Noah's Arc this summer and board all of our alpacas. The rain never seemed to stop coming. So far we have had three cria and by gosh they are beautiful. Check them out in the Female/Cria section. Two girls, Buttercup and Myla and a little boy, Casper. We have one more to be born and then we are finished for the year. The best part of these little guys is watching them run around the pasture together. I think Myla has a crush on Casper, she follows him everywhere. Zac Accoyo Cat and Senone have lost their virginity. We were not sure they would be ready this year but I have to say they are naturals. We will be doing limited outside breeding's with both boys in 2009. This is my first What's New and I am keeping it short. Hope everyone has a great summer and fall. Mary |
